Data Transfer
| LOG: 3/27/06: This past week I transfered the rest of the directories under the LCDM catalog into HPSS. Now I will begin to setup and move the remaining 2 catalogs. 3/28/06: Yesterday and today I have been moving out data from STAR/ZERO_FEEDBACK. However there is a problem with GPFS-WAN so I will not be able to copy the data into SDSC and place it into HPSS. Until GPFS-WAN comes available I will continue to pull and tar directories for transfer. 3/29/06: WAN still down so I am continuing my pulling and tar'n of files. The ZERO_FEEDBACK dir's all seem to have problems when pulling them out of motl's dir but after a few runs I am able to pull the entire dir. 3/30/06: About 20 more dir's to be pulled out of ZERO_FEEDBACK. Wan is supposed to be down only 2 more days so hopefully I can place these dirs in HPSS by this weekend and move on to the last catalog. 4/3/06: I pulled all of the ZERO_FEEDBACK Catalog by sunday except 2 directories. There was apparently quite a bit of computer problems this week with WAN and Mercury and I was still unable to copy the dirs to HPSS. So I will try to start pulling the next catalog. Once WAN is up I will switch to copying in ZERO to HPSS. 4/5/06: WAN came back to life so I was able to finally put the ZERO Catalog into HPSS. As long as scratch1 is going to be around I will be able to start pulling the LOW_FEEDBACK catalog all this week. 4/8/06: I have been "trying" to pull LOW_FEEDBACK, however nearly every directory is having I/O or availability issues. So I have decided to pull all the directories I can get out cleanly and then address the problem dirs after. Having said that, my teragrid connection was just terminated, hopefully not for long. 5/17/06: I have gathered all the available directories from NCSA and moved them into HPSS at SDSC. I have now begun to move the directories from HPSS into SRB. Once the directories are transferred I will be able to attach the metadata. 6/2/06: I have now moved 2 of the 4 catalogs into SRB space. The catalogs that have been moved are COOL and LCDM. In the next couple of weeks I plan on having all the catalogs in the SRB. Once the catalogs are in we can attach the metadata. |
